The Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift engagement announcement is breaking the internet. It just goes to show that loudly stating your intention to date someone well-known at their place of work sometimes massively pays off. (I may be exercising this logic at hockey games in the near future.)
While there's no doubt that a popstar and a NFL tight end make for a bigger headline, this felt like a good moment to call out some of the super star significant others of the Capitals, some of whom are also named Taylor. Biscuit and Slapshot are an honorary mention. Biscuit is now serving a veteran via America's VetDogs.
Tom Wilson has the good fortune to be married to the phenom that is Taylor Pischke: former professional beach volleyball player and small business owner of the truly stunning Taylor Lane Cookies. In her spare time she manages the Caps Canine Calendar benefitting Wolf Trap Animal Rescue as well as volunteering at the shelter and raises their gorgeous son, Teddy.
Dylan Strome also married a Tayler who has made him one of the most well-known girl dads in sports. Tayler Strome wrote a custom children's book for her girls to explain why their daddy wasn't there when he's at away games. She started making them for other hockey families this year.
Brandon Duhaime and Kay Parker got engaged over the weekend, to ever so slightly fewer meme responses and fanfare. And this past April, Caps Wives and Girlfriends visited Ronald McDonald House of Washington, DC, including Mikkayla Lindgren, goalie Charlie Lindgren's wife, who is a pediatric occupational therapist in the DMV and a certified yoga teacher.
These awesome women have taken on the challenge of supporting a spouse whose career brings some uncertainty, a challenging schedule, and sometimes frequent moves and made it look easy. They also haven't let it hold them back from making their mark. It felt like something Taylor would do to shout them out. With this kind of community its no wonder the Capitals are the most married team in the NHL.
