The good, the bad, the ugly against Devils

It was another bad loss at Capital One Arena as the Washington Capitals fought to the end but faltered

The good: The evolution of Connor McMichael

With Alex Ovechkin out, our gut feeling is we'll be talking about Connor McMichael a lot more and this is no exception. It wasn't just his power play breakaway unassisted goal that helped bring the house down and generate noise to keep the Caps in the game in the third period but it was also the 13th goal of the season for the young buck. It was also the way he scored the goal as you can see here.

McMichael's 13 goals at the time were tied for the fourth most goals in the NHL. Per Capitals PR, it marks McMichael's second PPG of the season and his 11 even strength goals rank tied for second in the NHL.

Over their last seven games the Caps have scored six power play goals on 13 opportunities which is good for a 46.2 percent success rate. The best Connor Mc has helped lead that charge. He was due though as it was the first time he lit the lamp since doing so twice on the road in Colorado before the Avalanche got revenge a week later. Which brings us sadly to the ugly.
