The ugly: The sting of losing back to back

Entering the game the Caps hadn't lost a second straight game all season. That changed Saturday night courtesy of the New Jersey Devils and as you can imagine people among the team weren't happy after the defeat.

In the loss there was a bad high sticking call and the ref didn't provide either Spencer Carbery or Nic Dowd an explaniation in said call. With a smirk he said when asked by Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post for comment on how he felt about the whole thing, he simply said, "Nope. Just gonna leave it at that."

Coach Spencer Carbery did however explain more to Tarik El-Bashir of Monumental Sports Network:

"(The ref) just missed it. The head snaps are a real issue in our league right now, and they're trying to find a way to clamp down on it. They don't want to have to go to review to see if a guy embellished. It's a tough call. But obviously it wasn't his stick."

Next up for the Caps is a Monday night contest with the Florida Panthers at 7 p.m. down in Sunrise, Florida. The game is on Monumental Sports Network.
