Even without their captain Alex Ovechkin, the Washington Capitals have to play on. Wednesday they held a practice and afterwards players and head coach Spencer Carbery spoke.

Carbery first talked to The Sports Junkies on 106.7 The Fan and Monumental Sports Network and said the good news that the injury isn't season ending.

After practice Carbery said per Sammi Silber of The Hockey News that Ovi is "bummed" about the injury, but "I would bet that's changing pretty quickly. ...he's a pretty positive guy that's gonna look on the bright side."

Also per Silber, Brandon Duhaime was marked absent due to maintenance. The team will know more about his status tomorrow.

Carbery also emphasized that Miroshnichenko, while being a good choice, is NOT up here to replace Ovechkin. Only to fill a roster spot and bring what he can when he's called upon. Not just going to automaticially play Ovechkin's role.

Before we get to more a quick break for a positive video as Kalen got to meet her hero T.J. Oshie as part of Make a Wish Mid Atlantic.

Alright back to on the ice stuff after practice. Tom Wilson would add per Tarik-El Bashir of Monumental Sports Network:

"We were just sitting there saying, 'this is just weird. It's unbelievable that he's actually hurt. It's like, 'He's going to miss games?' I've been here a long time, and it's new to me."
Tom Wilson

Wilson would add, "It was emotional a first, to be completely honest. He's the hottest guy in the league. He's chasing something bigger than hockey. Everyone in the hockey world just feels that little bit of letdown, that emotion, that you're just pulling for him. He's putting everything that he has into it. He just feels all that pressure and the whole world of hockey is just rooting him on. To come in (the locker room) and see that he's hurt, it hurt a little bit as a teammate. But at the end of the day, that's hockey, it's part of the gig, stuff happens. Guys bounce back from injuries and he's going to do the same."

Obvisouly this feeling is bad as a fan as well. But fans don't quit either. It's still important to cheer on the boys not only because it's season 50 but becasue they STILL have a good lineup. It's just gotta work.
