The Washington Capitals earned another thrilling win for their third in a row last night defeating the New Jersey Devils in overtime 6-5. In the victory, Tom Wilson opened up the scoring and then closed out the barn in Newark, New Jersey otherwise known as the Prudential Center.

The offense was very bad last year, in fact it was nonexistant a year ago. Now they're scoring aplenty and Wilson led the charge. Though it was an ugly game in the second period it was a resilient win for the real red, white and blue.

Odd man rush, I was kind of waiting for the stick to move over, got into some pretty good ice and just tried to shoot it in a good spot and I'll take it, it went in.

It's early in the year. Stromer rides all the highs and the lows as we all know so we'll try to keep it even keel but we're feeling good here as a group so that's all that really matters. We're coming together pretty well, everybody is chipping in. Every line is building an identity and we just got to keep it going.

Tom Wilson, John Carlson, and Dylan Strome each recorded points in their first four games. Per NHL PR, Washington has had three plus players open the season with a simultaneous point streak of at least four games two other times in franchise history.

The other occassions were in 2009-10 with Nicklas Backstrom, Alexander Semin, and Brooks Laich and in 1991-92 with Randy Burridge, Dale Hunter, Calle Johansson, and Michal Pivonka.

Wilson finished the game with a plus/minus of plus two in addition to his three point effort with two goals and one assist. In addition he finished with 17:51 minutes of ice time on 23 shifts. He also had four shots and seven hits.

His advanced stats are also decent too. So far per Natural Stat Trick, Wilson has a corsi for percentage of 47 percent, an expected goals for percentage of 58.69 percent, and a high danger chances for percentage of 54.55 percent.

Wilson's impact both on and off the ice has been instrumental to the Caps success for the last several years and now he's taken that alternate captain positon and ran with it and we couldn't be happier. The Caps are back in action Tuesday night against the Flyers.
