#2 Alex Ovechkin
Alex Ovechkin notched his fifth goal of he season late in the game to send the Halloween crowd home happy. He also assisted on a goal from Aliaksei Protas prior to that. He also had an assist on the Tom Wilson power play goal to get things started for the Caps in the second period.
Ovechkin has scored three goals in his last two games and needs 37 goals to bypass Wayne Gretzky for first on the NHL's all time goals list. The outburst came in the second period but Spencer Carbery would end up giving credit to the third period.
"In a highly competitive environment, these guys want to win. They look at each other and go, 'Oh yes, this is how we've got to do it. Cut the crap, let's go.' And that's exactly what you saw was our character in our group come through in that third period. We weren't just going to let the game slip away."Spencer Carbery
