The Washington Capitals have moved on to the second round where they'll face the Carolina Hurricanes. Let's take a look at the top 3 studs from the Caps first round win over the Montreal Canadiens where they took care of business in five games.

#3 Dylan Strome

Dylan Strome led the way for the Capitals in round one with nine points. Two of them were goals while the other seven were assists and his seven assists led the team.

Stromer or Zini however you may call him had a hat trick of assists (that's three) in Game 1. He would score a big goal in Game 2. He had one assist in the Game 3 loss. He would have a goal in Game 4 as well as an asssit as the Caps changed the course of the series in that game.

#2 Logan Thompson

Logan Thompson was good in net throughout the whole series. He would make 33 saves on 35 shots in Game 1. In Game 2 he stopped 25 of 26 shots. In the Game 3 loss he stopped 30 of 35 shots.

In Game 4's bounceback win he stopped 16 of 18 shots while in Game 5 he made 28 saves on 29 shots. He spoke to the media following the win to wrap up the series.

"I felt good today. I think the team was doing a good job of letting me see it. There wasn't many pucks that I didn't see tonight, so credit to the group in front of me for making my life a little easier. "

#1 Alex Ovechkin

After breaking Wayne Gretzky's goals record you could tell a weight was off Alex Ovechkin's shoulders entering the playoffs. He carried over a 44 goal regular season with a four goal and one assist performance in the five game bout over the Canadiens.

He got things started with two goals in Game 1 including the overtime winner. He scored in Game 3. Then he had a huge goal in Game 5 to get the party started on F Street.

Capitals coach Spencer Carbery said this on the play of Ovechkin, "He was outstanding, the whole series scoring huge goals. Tonight is a prime example because when you are tight and you're trying to settle into your game, to get that first goal is huge and that is exactly what he did."
