The Washington Capitals will look to extend their winning streak to five games tonight when they host the San Jose Sharks at Capital One Arena. The two teams will complete their season series on March 15 in San Jose.

Washington is 19-27-1-4 against San Jose and 8-3-1 in their last 12 games against the Sharks dating back to the 2017-18 season. The teams split the season series last season with Washington winning on Oct. 29, 2023 at Capital One Arena.

In that contest Alex Ovechkin and Dylan Strome each led the Caps with two assists for two points in the two games against San Jose.

The Capitals dropped their first two games without Ovechkin in the lineup but have won four straight since. Ovi still ranks tied for fifth in the NHL in goals despite not playing since Nov. 18. Per Mike Vogel of WashCaps.com, Ovechkin has never missed seven consecutive games in his 20 year career.

But in his absense 14 different Capitals have scored during the six game stretch led by Tom Wilson and Jakob Chychrun's three goals. The Capitals still lead the NHL in goals for with 101 and are the only team to have six players with eight or more goals this season. The others besides Ovi are Connor McMichael, Wilson, Dylan Strome, Chychrun, and Aliaksei Protas.
