In front of an ESPN national broadcast audience, the Washington Capitals defeated the New York Rangers on Saturday afternoon at Capital One Arena by a final of 7-4. Alex Ovechkin pulled to within 23 of Wayne Gretzky but it wasn't just him that stood out. Here are the top 3 studs from the win.

#3 Andrew Mangiapane

Andrew Mangiapane gave the Caps a 3-1 lead in the second period just under eight minutes after the Lars Eller goal. It was Mangiapane's ninth of the season and later on in the period when the Caps went to the power play the newcomer picked up another point with an assist on a goal from Connor McMichael.

On the goal, Nic Dowd and Rasmus Sandin picked up the assists. It was the form of a tic tac toe goal as Sandin set up Dowd who found a streaking Mangiapane up the middle.

Mangiapane has recorded eight points with five goals and three assists in 10 career games against the Rangers. The secondary assist later on was his seventh assist of the season upping his point total to nine with five and four. Either way he continues to haunt the Rangers and if you want more New York horror stories be sure to look at the Metropolitan Division standings.
