Caps trade a 2007 4th round pick to Los Angeles for a 2007 6th rounder and a 2008 4th rounder.

This trade doesn’t sound like much, but it actually worked out well for both teams. The Kings picked Alec Martinez with the fourth rounder in 2007. Martinez was a good defenseman in the NHL and went on to play for sixteen years in the league and won three Stanely Cups, two with LA and one with Vegas.

The Caps drafted a goaltender in the 4th round named Braden Holtby. Holtby would go on to win the second most games in net as a Capital, led the team to the Presidents Trophy and he made “The Save!” during Game 2 of the 2018 Stanely Cup Finals. Holtby stopped Alex Tuch with an amazing stop to keep the Caps in the game, and Washington would go on to win the game eventually their first Stanley Cup.
