The Washington Capitals have several top prospects in their system. Here are the guys who could potentially get called up and if not they should be one day soon.
Ryan Leonard: So far this season as we're writing this following a varsity Capitals win Saturday night over the Pitsburgh Penguins, Leonard has shined in Boston College along with Team USA at the World Juniors. In the World Juniors he had five goals and five assists for 10 points. With Boston College he's got 15 goals and seven assists for 22 points. Expect a call up later this season after he tries to lead BC to glory. Maybe sooner. Who knows?
Terik Parascak: The kid is shining in the WHL for the Prince George Cougars. He's got 20 goals and 34 assists for 54 points. He's projected to score 33 goals and 56 assists for 89 points. The 18 year old was drafted in the first round with the 17th overall pick in last year's NHL Draft.
Vincent Iorio: Currently with the Hershey Bears, the defenseman has three goals and 10 assists for 13 points. He's projected to finish the regular season with six goals and 20 assists for 26 points. He looks to lead Hershey to their third straight Calder Cup championship.
Ivan Miroshnichenko: Splitting time this season between varsity and Hershey, with the Caps Miro has one goal and three assists for four points in 18 games. In 19 games with the Bears, he's got seven goals and nine assists for 16 points.
Andrew Cristall: After recording 60 points in 28 games with the Kelowna Rockets with 26 goals and 34 assists. He's still in the WHL but now on the Spokane Chiefs and has 16 points in five games with five goals and 11 assists. He had a hat trick a week ago.
Ilya Protas: The younger Protas who was drafted by the Capitals in the third round with the 75th overall pick currently has 70 points in 39 games in the OHL with the Windsor Spitfires which includes 30 goals and 40 assists. He's projected to finish with 49 goals and 66 assists for 115 points. He also had a hat trick recently.
Ryan Chesley: Currently the captain in his junior season at the University of Minnesota, Chesley has seven goals and nine assists for 16 points.
Hendrix Lapierre: Currently Lapierre has just assists this season and is searching for his first goal of the season on either level. He has eight helpers in the NHL and five with the AHL's Hershey Bears.
Alexander Suzdalev: Currently on the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL he's got 21 points in 20 games with seven goals and 14 assists. The 20 year old was drafted in the 2022 NHL Draft in the third round at 70th overall.
