Betting odds and more on Game 82

The Capitals vs Penguins betting odds on Caesars have the Caps as 1.5 goal underdogs however the moneylines for both teams are even at -110 with an over/under of 6.0 goals.

The other night Dylan Strome recorded his third career hat trick and his first as a Capital to give Washington a 3-1 win over the New York Islanders on Tuesday at UBS Arena. With his three goal game, Strome eclipsed the 80 point mark for the first time in his career as he has 29 goals and 52 assists for 81 points in 81 games played.

Strome became just the fifth Capital to record an 80 point season since 2001-02 joining Nicklas Backstrom (three times), Evgeny Kuznetsov, Alex Ovechkin (10 times) and Alexander Semin.

Should Strome record a point in the Capitals regualr season finale tonight he would become the first Capital to post a point per game season while playing in all 82 games since Alex Ovechkin did it in 2017-18.

Two months ago the Caps played the Pens in their first game since the NHL's pause for the 4 Nations Face Off tournament. Washington would win by a final of 8-3 on a Saturday afternoon.

Since that pause coming into tonight's game, the Caps are 15-10-1. The 3-1 win over the Islanders snapped a slide and gives the Caps good momentum heading into tonight's game. In goal in that contest Charlie Lindgren would pick up his 20th win of the season which is the second straight year he has reached that mark.

The Caps have now for the first time in franchise history both a 30 win goaltender in Logan Thompson and a 20 win goaltender in Lindgren while 2024-25 is the third time they've had two goalies with 20 or more wins in the same season.

Yesterday the Caps extended Nic Dowd for two more seasons where he'll make an AAV of $3 million. It was a move to shore up their center depth just in time for the playoffs which is coming up next right after the clock hits zero tonight!
