The Washington Capitals go up against the Ottawa Senators up in Canada in the battle of the Nations' Capitols. Here's how to watch. Read on to find out which players you should add to your fantasy lineup tonight.
Martin Fehervary: We'll start with Martin Fehervary who was mentioned on ESPN Fantasy in an article by Sean Allen of ESPN.com in the See Also category. Per the game notes, Fehervary is the Capitals' real time leader in hits with 90. In addition he's also got one goal and 10 assists for 11 points while averaging 15 penalty minutes, 38 shots and a plus/minus of +15 while averaging 19:20 minutes of ice time per game.
Logan Thompson: A lot of people can't say enough about the stellar play of LT and that includes ESPN Fantasy in a separate article by Sean Allen of ESPN.com. Allen would say this about Thompson:
"Thompson has been given extra run lately with Lindgren sidelined due to upper body injury. He's used it to join Jacob Markstrom as the first two goaltenders to cross the 100 fantasy point threshold on Tuesday. Connor Hellebuyck isn't included in the count because he's not a goalie, he's a brick wall the Winnipeg Jets have disguised as a human. For reference, Thompson and Markstrom just crossed 100 points; Hellebuyck has 170. "Sean Allen ESPN.com
Through 24 games, 23 of them starts after coming on in relief of Lindgren in the wake of his injury, Thompson is 19-2-3 with a 2.23 goals against average and a .921 save percentage. Thompson is coming off his first career shutout as a member of the Capitals, stopping all 19 shots he faced on Tuesday night against the Anaheim Ducks.
Over his last two starts, tonight being his third consecutive per Spencer Carbery, Thompson has stopped 51 of 52 shots against which is good for a .981 save percentage over his last two starts. He also ranks fourth in the NHL in wins. Every goaltender ranked ahead of Thompson in wins has played at least 32 games.
With a win tonight in Ottawa, Thompson would tie Braden Holtby (which he did back in the 2015-16 season through 25 games) for the fewest games needed to record 20 wins in a single season in franchise history. Holby would go on to win the Vezina Trophy that season.
Puck drop once again is tonight at 7 p.m. on Monumental Sports Network and you can also listen to the game on Caps Radio 24/7.
