The Washington Capitals are back in action this time on home ice looking to get two points against the Vancouver Canucks, a team they split the season series with a year ago with the road team winning each game. Tonight's contest is at Capital One Arena with a 7:30 p.m. puck drop on Monumental Sports Network 2.

Earlier in the week on Monday, Victoria Matiash of ESPN Fantasy Hockey said some solid things about the Caps: "The Capitals play the Sabres (lost in the shootout), Canucks (tonight), and Canadiens on so called 'off' days this week, when a few other teams are engaged in on ice action before visiting the Predators Saturday. Is Aliaksei Protas available? If so, know hat the young second line skater has six goals in his past eight contests (and a goal Monday night in Buffalo). Wha about his center, current assists machine Pierre-Luc Dubois? And if you've been contemplating corralling goalie Logan Thompson onto your roster, now would be the time."

Jan Levine of The Hockey News would mention defenseman Rasmus Sandin:

"Sandin has raised his offensive production recently, tallying four assists his last seven games. On the season, Sandin is up to four goals and 13 apples in 40 games, putting him ahead of his 2022-23 scoring pace. Sandin is ably filling a third pairing d man role for an improved Capitals team while seeing 19+ a game of ice time. "

Levine would also end up mentoning Protas among forwards to add to your fantasy lineup:

"As long as Protas continues to produce and remains below the 50 percent rostered threshold, I will continue to highlight him in this column. Protas notched a goal and an assist and has five multi point performances across his last 14 games, collecting nine goals and 13 points over that stretch. Each tally scored just extends his career high in that category as well as points. Plus he sits just seven shy of a new mark in assists. "

Protas and Sandin are good upgrades to your lineup as are Logan Thompson and Charlie Lindgren, either goalie will get you a good start.
