The Washington Capitals are always committed to fight cancer and on Veteran's Day the team hosted patients and their families for their annual Hockey Fights Cancer Skate.

Before we dive into the skate itself, a reminder that Hockey Fights Cancer night presented by Leidos will take place on Nov. 21 against the Colorado Avalanche. All fans will receive a Hockey Fights Cancer T shirt as the team brings attention to organizations dedicated to cancer care and research. You can buy tickets here.

Earlier this week the Capitals supported the charity hockey game at Capital One Arena titled #SweatForBreath. After David Cornbrooks' ALK+ lung cancer diagnosis in Nov. 2022, this avid Caps fan has been advocating a cure through his foundation.

Now it's time for some adorable content. Like Charlie Lindgren lacing up skates.

And Dylan Strome playing the favorite color game with Eliza.

All suited up to take the ice.

Now for an even more heartwarming moment. Nic Dowd sent a video rooting on London in her battle against cancer all the way back in 2020 and now four years later the two met at the team's Hockey Fights Cancer Skate

The kids participating are either undergoing treatment for cancer or are in remission and they are affiliated with nonprofits across the Washington, D.C. region.

The week ahead for the Caps is a home game this Wednesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs before going on a quick three game road trip beginning Friday night in Colorado against the Avalanche. The middle game is a Sunday night game against the Vegas Golden Knights. The road trip ends Monday the 18th against the brand new Utah Hockey Club.

Quick Caps fact, their eight goals in Saturday's contest at the St. Louis Blues marked the first time the team eight goals in a game since March 4, 2023 in an 8-3 win at the San Jose Sharks. Their seven goal win margin marked their largest since Dec. 31, 2022 in a 9-2 win against the Montreal Canadiens.

The Caps sit at 10-4-0 with 20 points and are one of seven teams who have not lost back to back games this season. And their plus 19 goal differential ranks tied for third in the NHL.

Before we go, Strome Taryn Bray of WashCaps.com about the skate today:

It's been super fun. It takes nothing out of our day to do this and you see how happy it makes these kids so it's something we all love to do every year.
Dylan Strome
