The Washington Capitals fell to the Dalls Stars 3-1 on Monday night to end their road winning streak at 10 games. The season series ends tied at one apiece with each team winning on their home ice.
Dylan Strome struck in the first period for the Caps with his 11th goal of the season coming off assists from Jakob Chychrun for his 12th and Taylor Raddysh for his 10th at the 15:39 mark. The Stars had the edge in shots 9-7 in the opening period.
In the second period the Stars tied with with a power play goal from Roope Hintz at 13:28 and took the lead from Lian Bichel for his second of the season at 17:35. Hintz would add his 13th goal of the season at the 14:58 mark of the third period.
Washington outshot Dallas 10-7 in the second period and 9-8 in the third to lead overall in that department 26-24 but alas it wasn't enough. Charlie Lindgren would take the loss as he made 21 saves. Jake Oettinger got the win for the Stars as he made 25 saves on those 26 shots.
Dallas held the edge in face off win percentage 52.3 percent to 47.7 percent. The Stars went one for two on the power play while the Caps went 0 for 4. Washington outhit Dallas 22-15 while the Stars led 15-11 in penalty minutes and 15-14 in blocked shots. The Capitals had six giveaways and eight takeaways while the Stars had 10 giveaways and six takeaways.

This loss snapped both a four game winning streak for the Capitals and ended a franchise record at 10 in a row away from home. This was a stretch that dated all the way back to Nov. 3. The Stars second goal of the night even deflected off a Caps player. Oettinger in net against the Caps improves his record to 5-0-0 all time. So yeah not one of those nights.
