As we celebrate 50 years of Washington Capitals hockey, we can all take a look aback at some of the top all time moments. Here's what we came up with:

25 First win as a franchise

We start things off in the very beginning of time when the Capitals earned their first win as a franchise. It came on Oct. 17, 1974 in a win at the Capital Centre thanks in large part to two goals from Denis Dupere plus goals from Ron Anderson and Jack Egers in a 4-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks.

Sadly it was a dreadful rest of the season as the expansion team went 8-67-5 setting up for a long run. But soon the tide will turn. There was the Save the Caps campaign in the 1980s that catapulted interest in the hometown team and nowadays tickets are the hottest in town. We still got more moments to count down as we celebrate the 50th anniversary.
