6 Dueling Hat Tricks

In May of 2009, Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby had a game for the ages as each player notched a hat trick. Alex Ovechkin recalled the game:

"It's good for the fans to see great players play against each other and two great teams play against each other. It's an interesting time and an interesting gam. It's unbelievable when you play against great players and you win a game like this."

Ovechkin's first goal of the game came off feeds from fellow Russians Sergei Fedorov and Viktor Kozlov to beat Marc Andre-Fleury. Later in the third period Ovechkin would score twice in 2:29.

Nicklas Backstrom would win a faceoff back to Mike Green as he slide the puck over to Ovi for the one timer from the office and only two seconds esclipsed on the power play before Ovechkin scored. The hat trick would be completed with a one on one with Sergei Gorchar that the great eight would win.
