#3 1998 Playoff stats in run to their first Eastern Conference title

Joe Juneau scored what went on to be the goal that sent the Capitals to their first Stanley Cup Final appearance where they ran into a powerful Detroit Red Wings team in the midst of their dynasty.

Lets break down that spring a little further. Juneau and Adam Oates each had 17 points. The former with seven goals and 10 assists and the latter with six goals and 11 assists. Center Andrei Nikolishin added 14 points with one goal and a team leading 13 assists that spring.

Brian Bellows recorded 13 points with six goals and seven assists. Peter Bondra notched seven goals and five assists for 12 points. Sergei Gonchar notched seven goals and four assists for 11 points.

Richard Zednik added seven goals and three assists for 10 points while Calle Johansson had two goals and eight assists for 10 points. Esa Tikkanen had six points with three goals and three assists. Phil Housley and Dale Hunter each had four assists.

On the goalie front, Olie Kolzig went 12-9 with a 1.95 goals against average and a .941 save percentage.
