#1 The Cup
As we all know in 2018 the Caps won the Stanley Cup but it was the way they won it that was truly remarkable. Down two games to none to the Columbus Blue Jackets after losing both contests on home ice saw Lars Eller come through in double overtime in Ohio to completely turn the tide of the series and the magical run.
The carpet ride cotinued in a firece second round round series with the Pittsburgh Penguins that saw the Caps overcome a four game Tom Wilson suspension in the form of a six game smackdown that was ended by none other than Evgeny Kuznetsov in overtime.
The third round took seven games but in the end the play of Alex Ovechkin, Braden Holtby and many other casts of characters saw the Caps take down the mighty Tampa Bay Lightning.
Then in the Finals it took five games and the Caps would prevail in Games 2-5 after dropping Game 1. The one stick save by Holtby and game winner in Game 2 by Brooks Orpik helped turn the tide on that one. As did the emergence of Devante-Smith Pelly who really came out from Games 3, 4 and 5.
Games 3 and 4 were the best crowds Washington D.C. has seen for a hockey game inside their local barn ever. And thousands of fans who couldn't afford a ticket were treated to video boards outside Capital One Arena to generate even louder noise throughout the city.
That noise would only get louder once Lars Eller scored the Cup clinching goal on June 7, 2018. Caps fans who traveled to Vegas made their presence known. As did the fans who flooded watch parties all througout the area.
