#18 How Alex Ovechkin was introduced to the game of hockey
It wasn't Alex's mom or dad but rather his late older brother Sergei that introduced a young Alexander to the beautiful game. Sadly Sergei never got to see his brother suit up for an NHL game as he was hurt in a car crash and passed away when Alex was just 10 years old.
At that same age, Alex broke a goalpost in half with a shot and his youth coach at the time still keeps it as a memento. Ovechkin's answer in the wake of tragedy was turning to his passion for the game of hockey and we as fans can thank him for it.
Ovechkin sadly was critcized by other media and pundits with the way he played the game but Ovechkin put those haters to silence in 2018 when they hoisted the Stanley Cup. His celebrations were historic and epic.
Following the hoisting of the Cup, the team brought it to Hakkasan nightclub and finally left at 5 a.m. because what happens in Las Vegas stays in Las Vegas. But the celebratings would continue throughout the DMV region and beyond in that summer.
