It's time to see which goaltender could play victim to Alex Ovechkin's 895th career goal. Let's learn more about them and who the Washington Capitals could be putting up shots against in net over the next few games.
Which goalie could give up 895?
The Capitals have seven games remaining including tonight's contest against the Chicago Blackhawks if you're reading this on this fine Friday afternoon.
The Blackhawks goalies are Spencer Knight who's 3-6-1 with a 3.10 goals against average and a .892 save percentage. They also have Arvid Soderblom who's 8-18-7 with a 3.23 GAA and a .897 save percentage.
After the Blackhawks, the Caps head to New York to take on the Islanders and they'll actually see them twice before the regular season ends. That upcoming matchup is Sunday the 6th then they meet again on the 15th which will be the second to last game of the season.
The Islanders feature Ilya Sorkin who's 27-26-6 with a 2.79 GAA and a .904 save percentage. Marcus Hogberg is the other goalie who's 2-4-1 with a 2.39 GAA and a .915 save percentage.
After the Islanders it's a rematch against the Carolina Hurricanes. Could these two bitter Metropolitan Division rivals meet later this spring? Got to get out of round one first. But that game is on April 10 and Ovi could face either Frederik Anderson or Pyotr Kochetkov.
Anderson is 13-5-0 with a 1.95 GAA and .920 save percentage while Kochetkov is 26-13-3 with a 2.54 goals against average and a .900 save percentage.
The Caps will have a back to back affair with the Columbus Blue Jackets on April 12 and 13. A home and home if that with the first leg in Ohio and the back half at Capital One Arena. The Blue Jackets have Elvis Merzlinkis who's 25-20-5 with a 3.20 GAA and a .891 save percentage. They also feature Daniil Tarsov who's 7-9-2 with a 3.45 GAA and a .883 save percentage.
Finally the Caps close out the regular season in Pittsburgh against the Penguins. With Ovi within striking distance entering tonight, we think the record will have already been broken by April 17.
But in case he still needs one more that night to pass Gretzky, Ovechkin would have to face Tristain Jarry who's 13-11-6 with a 3.27 GAA and .887 save percentage or Alex Nedeljkovic with a 13-14-5 record, a 3.19 GAA and .892 save percentage.
Alex Ovechkin has been scoring goals and having a lot of fun along the way! 😁😂

No goalie in the league wants to give up a goal to the greatest goal scorer ever but as early as tonight, someone's name could be in the history books as the one who gave up Ovechkin's goal to lead the entire League.
