The Washington Capitals are back in action on Friday night in Toronto. In the meantime we've got another fun one where we'll look at the backbones of the team so far.

Nic Dowd

Nic Dowd continues to remain the one consistent on the fourth line that's been everchanging since his time here. So far this season he has nine points through 25 games with seven and two assists. He also has a plus/minus of +5 while winning 47.9 percent of his face off draws this season and averaging 15:31 minutes of ice time a night.

Dowd had the lone goal in the loss to the Sharks in overtime on Tuesday night at Capital One Arena, saying to Harvey Valentine of NHL.com:

"I think we did a good job of trying to get pucks to the net but didn't do a good job of getting through the neutral zone and trusting the process of just getting pucks in and trying to get them back and doing it over and over."

Jakob Chychrun

Caps defenseman Jakob Chychrun is another one. After the Caps extended Dowd last season it's imperitive for Chris Patrick to do the same thing here. He's got 15 points in 20 games and the 26 year old defenseman has a plus/minus of +10 to go along with his eight goals and seven assists.
