Evgeny Kuznetsov

Maybe it’s the most recent game that’s making me make this decision. However, I honestly feel like the performance by Evgeny Kuznetsov against the Vancouver Canucks on Friday night might have been the best performance by a Capitals player all week.

His advanced stats might not blow you away. In fact they’re not very good. His Corsi For percentage was 42.62%, not good, and his scoring chance for percentage was 46.15%. Even worse Kuznetsov‘s high danger attempts for percentage was a disgusting 13.33% having two high danger attempts for with 13 against. He did however finish second on the team in individual scoring chances with 10.

He did have two goals this week, both against Vancouver on Friday and the goal late in the second period is what started that incredibly impressive comeback by Washington. I don’t think Kuznetsov was at his best and he was still really, really good vs the Canucks. That shows you how good he can be.

It might not have been a great week for him, but his game vs. Vancouver was quite possibly the best game by a Caps player all week. So, for that reason I think Kuznetsov deserves to be one of our stars of the week.
