Washington Capitals Stars Of The Week: 10/27 – 11/3
By CJ Witt
Tom Wilson
I’m not sure if Tom Wilson was the most noticeable he’s ever been this week but he was still good. The way Wilson plays it’s hard to not notice him at least once a game and I can’t think of too many times I’ve gone a few games and not noticed big number 43.
He had good stats this week, Wilson tied with Ovechkin for second most points this week with five, behind only the man mentioned before. He had just the one goal this week but he added 4 total assists with two of them being primary assists. His 4 helpers tied for the team lead with Michal Kempny.
Wilson, like Vrana, had very good advanced stats as well. He was second in Corsi% behind Vrana with a 62.30%. His scoring chance for% was also only behind Vrana at 76.74%, the Caps had 27 chances for with Wilson on the ice and only 10 against. He led the team in high danger attempts for% at 80% having 8 chances for and 2 against.
A couple of other numbers to mention, Wilson had a week when it came to drawing penalties, he drew a team high four penalties. Maybe it’s in fact not worth mentioning but he was also towards the top in hits ranking second behind Garnet Hathaway. Wilson had 12 hits, Hathaway had 13.
It wasn’t as eye-popping as Vrana’s week, but still a very good week and Wilson, in my eyes, deserves to be a star of the week.
