Talking about Michal Kempny this week won’t be like the two players we’ve mentioned before. Vrana and Wilson both had great stats and advanced stats and Vrana was just brilliant pretty much all week. We’re really just putting Kempny on here thanks to his good stats.

Michal Kempny had four points this week, all assists, three of them primaries. His four points were ahead of guys like Nicklas Backstrom, T.J. Oshie, Evgeny Kuznetsov and fellow defenseman John Carlson.

If you want to extend this past this week Kempny also had 2 goals vs the Canucks on the 25th. Kempny is on a bit of a roll, just like the team.

His advanced stats aren’t really much to write home about. His Corsi% is an average 50% and his scoring chance for% is a low 42.55%. With all that being pointed out, while on the ice the Capitals had seven goals for and one against. He maybe not be blowing you away with his advanced stats but he is putting up the stats that truly matter.

Maybe this last mention could have gone to an Ovechkin, maybe Kuznetsov, but those guys get their time in the spotlight. Kempny has had a good week. He deserves to be in our stars of the week.

Another week done and dusted. The week ahead is a little slow. No games until Thursday and only one game after that on Saturday. Like always, we’ll see you next week to recap those two games and name more stars of the week.
