John Carlson

John Carlson enters tonights game with 15 goals and 54 assists, good for 69 points. That’s tied for ninth with Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Jonathan Huberdeau of the Florida Panthers and Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks.

Carlson had two assists the other night in Denver and it was the fourth multi point game in his last six games. He continues his fire from the beginning of the season and is a heavy legitimate favorite for the Norris Trophy.

Expect Carlson to lineup next to Michal Kempny, who’ve been the shutdown pair for the Capitals defense, though newcomer Radko Gudas has done good as well. Carlson’s +\- is  a +16 which is second on the team behind Gudas.

Carlson’s advanced stats are decent as well. He has a 51.35 Corsi For Percentage. For those that don’t know that percentage helps measure possession in the offensive zone and it’s the total shots at the net for and against at even strength. Him and Kempny together have a Corsi For percentage of 48.20 percent. As long as it’s above a 45 it’s considered good.

Aside from John Norris, who else should we watch. Well the second will be obvious but that’s because we’ve changed it up.
