Alex Ovechkin

Alex Ovechkin has been held scoreless his last three games. I think he’s due for at least a goal tonight and predict we’ll see number 699. As for 700? Well that remains to be seen. Ovechkin not only hasn’t scored a goal but has been unable to record a point.

Ovechkin has 40 goals on the season which is one behind Toronto Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews as well as David Pastrnak of the Boston Bruins.

Has Ovechkin been noticeable on the ice? Let’s dive into the numbers a bit. Ovechkin played a total of 25:48 the other night in Colorado, easily the longest in his five games and also recorded seven shots, the most in that same stretch. Ovechkin had six shots in 21:50 on Monday night against the New York Islanders and was held to just two in 21:55 against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Ovechkin looks to become the eighth player in NHL history to join the 700 goal club tonight. 23 of Ovechkin’s 40 goals have come on the road in 27 contests which leads the NHL for most goals away from your rink.

It’ll be cool to see Ovechkin reach 700 goals no matter where he does. Can he do it in one of the deserts? Either Arizona or Las Vegas? Will he be held scoreless and once again get a try on home ice?
