At Detroit During 2019-20 Season
This is more what people think of when they hear the term a great goal by an individual. This is a goal scored off of a very nice move by Wilson.
Unfortunately, I could not find a video of this goal on its own. So if you would like to see it, fast forward to 1:50 on this video here.
The play starts on a fortunate bounce for Ovechkin and Wilson. Ovechkin is either trying to send a hard pass Wilson’s way or just shooting the puck into the zone. Either way, it ends up going off the defender and landing in front of and to the side of Wilson. He then picks up the puck, goes to the net and drags it around the goalie and tucks it into the goal.
The first goal we talked about was a big goal, not necessarily a nice goal. The second was a nice goal but mostly the work of a teammate with Wilson finishing. This goal is mostly Wilson. He got a fortunate bounce for sure, but he picks up the puck, takes it to the goal and dangles around the goalkeeper.
I’m sure Wilson was reliving this goal a bunch after the game. It’s a very nice goal, and it’s the kind of goal you dream of scoring as a little kid hoping to make the National Hockey League.
