This will be the final game of the preseason before the Capitals open up the season against the New York Rangers five nights later and final roster spots will be up for grabs. This will be a big game for a lot of guys but most notably Martin Fehervary and Connor McMichael.

Connor McMichael has an opportunity to crack the opening night roster with an injury to Nicklas Backstrom and this will be the game that helps cement him into that lineup. There could be an opening for him on the third line unless Nic Dowd moves down there then he could occupy the fourth line.

McMichael led the Hershey Bears with 14 goals and 27 points in his first AHL season. He appeared in all 33 Bears games last season. The six foot and 180 pound center ranked tied for second in goals and sixth in points among AHL rookies and ranked first with eight game winning goals while tied for fourth with sixth power play goals among all AHL skaters.

Martin Fehervary will be competing with the likes of Michal Kempny and Alex Alexeyev for the final spot on the defense after the team has spoken so highly of Trevor van Riemsdyk. This game could decide who gets that final spot on the blueline.
