#1 Dmitry Orlov

After the Caps surrendered a two goal lead in the third period, Dmitry Orlov broke the tie at 17:05 with a power play snipe. In other words, it came with 2:55 remaining and was his fourth goal of the season. Orlov has recorded four points with two goals and two assists in his last four games. Three of Orlov’s four goals this season have been game winning goals which lead the team.

Orlov had a goal and an assist on the Ovechkin goal which was a sweet backhand no look pass. It marked his third multi point game this season and the 26th of his career. Orlov has 12 pints thus far on the season along with eight assists. Orlov has recorded at least 20 points in his last six seasons.

Orlov is currently on pace for 44 points, which would be a career high. With Orlov on the ice at five on five, the Caps are outscoring their opponents 22-7 and have a 52.17 shot attempt percentage (372 shot attempts for, 342 against), the second highest shot attempt percentage among Capitals defensemen this season (Justin Schultz: 52.26 percent).

Orlov told the media after the game:

"“It was a big game for both teams. Everybody played hard, was intense, and I think it was a great two points for us.”"
