#1 Jan. 22 vs. Ottawa Senators

This is perhaps the easiest Caps game coming up this month. They need to win this one, plain and simple. The Ottawa Senators are 10-18-2 so far this season but have won six of their last 10. They’re in seventh place in the Atlantic Division with 22 points.

The Senators feature former Caps prospect Zach Sanford who has five goals and two assists for seven points this season. They are led in goals by Joshua Norris with 14 to go along with eight assists for 22 points. Drake Batherson leads with 19 assists and 29 points to go along with 10 goals.

The last time the teams met was on Oct. 25 in Ottawa in a high scoring affair that saw the Caps win 7-5 behind a T.J. Oshie hat trick. Nick Jensen and John Carlson also scored for the Caps while Ovechkin found the back of the net twice. Ilya Samsonov got the win in goal with 32 saves and an .865 save percentage.

Like I said it was hard coming up with the other two opponents but this one was pretty easy. The Caps will hope to end the four game losing streak tomorrow night on the road in New York against the Islanders. That game will be the first of a back to back as they return home to host the Canucks.
