Tom Wilson is having a good week. Washington Capitals fans are having a somewhat OK week after beating the Pittsburgh Penguins and losing two in a row but we're all very happy to hear that the future team captain and current NHL All Star is going to become a dad! That's even bigger news than goals, honors, wins, and losses.

Wilson and his wife Taylor are expecting their first baby. Taylor annouced it via her Instagram in a reel showing the couple's highlights of the year 2023. At the very end was a gender reveal as their dog Halle ate the cake to reveal the gender. The end of the reel showed photos that they were expecting.

Taylor used a blue heart emoji in the caption which means it's a boy! Congratultions to the Wilsons on this exciting news.

Wilson will be heading to his hometown in Toronto at the beginning of February to represent the Capitals at the All Star Game. It'll be his second appearance in the NHL's midseason event. So far this season he has recorded 19 points in 37 games this season with 11 goals and eight assists.

Wilson's 11 goals are second on the Caps. But Wilson got into the All Star Game for more than just scoring and doing a good job drawing penalties.

Wilson may very well be one of the most valuable Capitals all season. While the Caps aren't a good team this season they are not a bad team either. Wilson's play has kept them in games. He has also stepped up as a leader.

With Alex Ovechkin's slow offensive start to the season, the Caps are counting on Wilson now more than ever in 2024 to get back to the big dance in April. Now he'll have dad strength behind him.
