#1 Alex Ovechkin

I mean at this point the answer is getting more and more obvious as the Great Eight inches closer to hockey history. Alex Ovechkin is one of a kind and this season he has 32 points with 20 goals and 17 assists in 27 games played. He now has 873 career goals which puts him at 21 from tying and 22 away from passing him.

Ovechkin's 20h goal of the season on Saturday at Nashville tied him with Ron Francis for the second most 20 goal seasons in NHL history. He is also the first player in NHL history to score 20 goals in 20 straight seasons from the start of his career.

Per NHL Public Relations, Ovechkin required the fewest games in NHL history by a player of age 39 or older to reach the 20 goal mark in a single campaign, doing so in 15 fewer contests than the next closest skaters. He has reached 873 goals total in 1,453 games played.

What's even crazier is Ovechkin is still scoring at the rate he's at despite fracturing his fibula in mid November. He has scored five goals in nine games since returning to game action on Dec. 28.
