The NHL Trade Deadline is on March 7 and teams around the league will be making moves to bolster their roster. In the case of the Washington Capitals, they're in a unique spot. They have a chance at some spring success but at what cost?

According to PuckPedia, the Capitals current cap space is set at $3,650,000. They might have to part ways with someone to create more space but the question is whom if the Caps and Chris Patrick were to make a trade.

Washington Capitals with no-trade clauses for 2024-25 season

Per PuckPedia, only Alex Ovechkin and Pierre-Luc Dubois are listed with a no movement clause which makes the most sense as he's chasing hockey history and is in the final of his two years of his contract that he signed in 2021.

PLD of course was acquired over the summer in exchange for Darcy Kuemper and it is a trade that paid dividends for the Capitals. He's got 13 goals and 31 assists for 44 points and he has already surpassed last year's mark. Ovi as we know has 26 goals and 17 assists for 43 points and is 16 away from the Wayne Gretzky record.

For those who are new, a no movment clause in the NHL means the player cannot be traded, sent to the minors or waived without the player's approval. A modified no trade clause means the player can list a number of teams the athlete doesn't want to be traded to. LTIR stands for long term injured reserve.

Here are the others with no movment clauses with the number of teams the respective player listed:

Nicklas Backstrom on LTIR (15 teams)

Tom Wilson (14 teams)

Andrew Mangiapane (8 teams)

T.J. Oshie on LTIR (10 teams)

John Carlson (10 teams)

Matt Roy (15 teams)

Jakob Chychrun (10 teams)

Out of these names I could only see someone like Andrew Mangiapane get traded. Or a defenseman. But after just re-signing goaltender Logan Thompson, and Charlie Lindgren is in extension talks as well, Chirs Patrick absolutely has to go out and extend Jakob Chychrun.
