John Carlson for Roman Josi

This is highly unlikely to happen but this is about as blockbuster as it gets. A complete flip of one elite defenseman for another. Roman Josi is captain of the Nashville Predators and has a cap hit similar to Carlson’s. Josi’s is $9.059 million. Again it is unlikely the Caps go this route and it is even more unlikely that the Predators would accept this trade.

They already stole Filip Forsberg from us and they would probably want a Connor McMichael or other young buck in the deal.

Josi has competed with Carlson for the Norris Trophy a couple times and has beaten him once back in 2020. This past season he broke out with the Predators with 23 goals and 73 assists for 96 points. In the playoffs he had a goal and an assist as the Predators got swept.

Josi’s advanced stats were decent too. Per Natural Stat Trick, he had a Corsi For percentage of 51.49 percent, an Expected Goals For percentage of 51.59 percent, and a High Danger Chances For percentage of 52.63 percent.

Not a chance the Predators will accept this trade and it would be foolish if they did. But then again we can dream and this one was wild.
