Washington Capitals News: The season is 50 days away
With the season 50 days away we are ramping up the coverage
We are 50 days away from the Washington Capitals season and we are ramping up the coverage over here at Stars and Sticks as we anticipate an exciting fall. We've recently talked about Dylan Strome, Alex Ovechkin, and Pierre-Luc Dubois and there will be much more hockey talk coming.
Dylan Strome was recently featured on TSN Toronto 1050 for Hokcey Night in Brampton, Ontario talking about the GR8 chase and Joey Votto's retirement.
"It's (the GR8 Chase) gonna be exciting. Last year compared to my first year there wasn't much talk about any records or anything like that because in that first year he hit 50 goals and beat the past (in) Gordie Howe at 800 and hit a couple of different milestones."
Strome added, "We're looking to build off the last half of the regular season" as the Great Eight is 42 goals away from breaking a record millions of hockey fans across the globe once thought was impossible.
In case you missed it the team dropped a promotional schedule with highlights almost each and every home game to celebrate this historic milestone. Among the prizes include duo bobbleads from different decades and eras of Capitals hockey. You can check it out and buy your tickets by clicking the link here and fans are encouraged to purchase through Ticketmaster.
The ones we're most excited about are the Peter Bondra and Olie Kolzig bobblehead combination in February and the Alex Oveckin and Nicklas Backstrom combination in March.
While informal skates are going on with a big one today at noon on the Monumental Sports Network, Spencer Carbery was in attendance at Commanders training camp yesterday checking out the vibes in Ashburn as the football team is in an exciting season of their own in year two of the Josh Harris era.
We also know that V is back in town on a professional tryout agreement as he hopes to make the team ahead of training camp. We're of course talking about speed demon Jakub Vrana.
We all know what V has done in the Cup Run and here's hoping that inspires V enough to make the team straight out of training camp. The folks who have been there say he looks good.
Overall you can hear the crisp autumn in the air as we gear up for 50 years of Capitals hockey. It should be a fun year ahead.
