For years, the Washington Capitals were rotating players in and out of the first line wing position that would put them beside superstars Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom. Not only did general manager Brian MacLellan acquire that permanent top-line right wing this offseason when he traded for Oshie, but he traded for a player on an excellent contract. Oshie had posted a career high of 60 points with the St. Louis Blues during the 2013-14 season, and although he might not match that total this season, he will likely surpass his career high in goals, which is 21. He already has 15 this season.

Not only does Oshie mesh well with Ovechkin and Backstrom, he can play in any situation. He has stepped into a role on both the power play and the penalty kill. Oshie ranks third among Capitals forwards in shorthanded TOI and second on the power play, only trailing Alex Ovechkin. He is more reliable in the slot on the power play than the main piece he was traded for, Troy Brouwer, and is an overall good fit for the top line.

Honorable Mentions: Justin Williams, Alex Ovechkin
