Before the Washington Capitals took on the Minnesota Wild, that is the NHL 20 Capitals on NBC Sports Washington, Alex Ovechkin was playing along.

Alex Ovechkin and his son Sergei were playing NHL 20 prior to NBC Sports Washington’s simulation of the Washington Capitals game with the Toronto Maple Leafs prior to Tuesday night’s simulation.

Ovi and Ovi Jr. are both dialed into the TV during the Capitals game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Ovechkin posted this on his Instagram story. They both took a quick glance at the camera before it panned back to the task at hand which was an important game.

This duo will be a powerful gaming combo in the future for sure.

Ovechkin’s rating on the game is 92 overall and he’s ranked fourth in the top 50. That’s pretty good.

Speaking of 50, we are all wondering if he would’ve gotten toward that total and what his final goal count would’ve winded up being at. Sitting at 48 goals, who knows what could’ve happened.

Ovechkin is spending quality time with his family in his Virginia home waiting patiently for the season to come back. He recently spoke to the media on a video conference call with other NHL players.

Ovechkin has his personal trainer working out with him as he gears up towards a potential season resumption whether it’s the regular season, jumping right into the playoffs or the worst thing that could happen, no hockey at all.

We’re approaching five weeks without hockey and of course we don’t know what’s going to happen with the future.

“The first week was kind of a good thing, like you know, relaxing we chilling. But now, it is getting boring.”

Ovechkin said he’d prefer the league going straight to the playoffs if the league were to resume in the summer.

“We don’t want to play the extra games. But I know for different (teams) who fight for a playoff spot (they) want the extra games. For me…. I’d rather start the playoffs right away. Sorry guys,” Ovechkin said on the call that was also shared by Nick Foligno of the Columbus Blue Jackets, P.K. Subban of the New Jersey Devils and Anders Lee of the New York Islanders.

In the meantime we do have NHL 20 which Ovechkin can enjoy with his son and we can enjoy playing as the Capitals.
