Capitals get shutout win to go up 3-0 in our NHL 20 playoff simulation

The Washington Capitals got a huge 3-0 shutout win over the Buffalo Sabres in today’s NHL 20 simulation.

The Washington Capitals are for real in the virtual world and they’re now 3-0 in the first round and a game away from sweeping the Buffalo Sabres after a 3-0 win in Buffalo in today’s NHL 20 simulation.

The first period was scoreless with the only action coming from Garnet Hathaway winning a fight against Shane Bowers with 90 seconds left in what was a quick duel. The Caps outshot the Sabres in the opening period 9-7.

The Caps erupted for two unanswered goals in the second period. Tom Wilson deflected in a Michal Kempny shot at 9:06 with Jakub Vrana having the secondary assist. It was Wilson’s first goal of the playoffs.

At 13:54 T.J. Oshie doubled the lead with a goal right in front of the net for his second of the playoffs. Alex Ovechkin and Nick Jensen had the helpers. The Caps led 2-0 after two periods and in shots 16-14.

After Jack Eichel was called for a hooking minor 17 seconds in, the Caps got a power play and cashed in with Evgeny Kuznetsov‘s first goal of the playoffs with a goal right in front of the net. Oshie and Nicklas Backstrom had the helpers.

Braden Holtby stopped all 28 shots he faced for the shutout win. The Caps put up 33 shots as a team. They also outhit the Sabres 18-6 and won face-offs 22-13. The three stars of the game were once again Braden Holtby as the first star. The second star was Oshie while Wilson was given the third star.
