Washington Capitals Forward Brendan Leipsic has ‘Offensive’ Messages Leaked
On Wednesday some inappropriate messages involving Washington Capitals forward Brendan Leipsic were leaked.
On Wednesday, May 6th, 2020, Washington Capitals‘ forward, Brendan Leipsic, had messages from one of his Instagram group chats leak to the public.
Shortly after their release via the Instagram account, @angelszeee2020, Twitter got ahold of the messages and within no time, Brendan Leipsic – a fringe fourth-liner in the NHL – was the #1 trend in the hockey universe.

Some how, some way, Brendan Leipsic has made Tom Wilson look like Prince Charming to the rest of the NHL.
Here is a thread which showcases the private messages that were leaked:
This is absolutely not a good look for Brendan Leipsic. Throughout the unfortunately long list of messages that were leaked, he, as well as the others in the group discussion, discuss topics such as former teammates, their love of cocaine, as well as a lot of discussion of women, including current players’ significant others.
These discussions of women have sparked the most attention. Leipsic and the others in the chat discuss a plethora of women, and very rarely are there nice words written. In one message, Leipsic says “how fat [Tanner] Pearson’s wife is,” and in another message regarding a different women, Leipsic simply wrote, “oink oink.”
One screenshot in particular which will land him in hot water within the Caps’ organization shows Leipsic bad-mouthing his linemates in Washington, both Garnet Hathaway and Nic Dowd. In the image, Leipsic says “f*ck they’re losers” to his friends.
This leaked image may lead to some serious trouble in the Capitals’ locker room for Leipsic, depending on if he remains a Capital after all of this. He has already begun sitting games since the acquisition of Ilya Kovalchuk at the trade deadline, being replaced on the fourth line by Richard Panik.
Both the Washington Capitals and the NHL released statements regarding the leaked messages.
In addition, Brendan Leipsic issued an apology on Twitter that people were quick to dismiss due to it’s disingenuous nature.
These comments made by Leipsic and friends have enraged people on Twitter and have once again added fuel to the fire of people who believe that the hockey community is a toxic one that is exclusively filled with racists, misogynists and bigots.
This is a debate that has been ongoing for years and has really picked up steam since the firing of Don Cherry from Hockey Night in Canada, as well as the outings of the actions of previous head coaches in the NHL.
