The NHL is desperately trying to salvage the season and Washington Capitals owner Ted Leonsis believes the league will get it right.

On Sunday night Ted Leonsis was on CNN’s “The Situation Room” to talk about the return of all three of his teams at Monumental Sports- the Washington Capitals, Wizards and Mystics and that all three will play in 2020.

“I believe all three teams will play. We will let the NBA and NHL try to finish at some point or all of the regular season then go in the playoffs, we just won’t be doing it with fans,” said Leonsis.

Will the NHL pausing the season, the Capitals played 69 games and had just 13 to go right before the playoffs began. High profile stars such as Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby have said that the league should jump right into the playoffs.

Recently there’s been momentum about the league jumping to the playoffs but making it 24 teams. What exactly would that look like is the question.

Will they just scrap the remaining regular season games and make a new condensed slate of exhibition games? That might be a good idea to fine tune the teams into game shape just before the start of the playoffs.

Before the pause the Caps were supposed to host the Detroit Red Wings at Capital One Arena. That’s a team not even in the playoff picture and someone likely to get the top lottery pick in the draft which we are still unsure when it is.

Honestly it’s not a surprise if the season was to continue that there wouldn’t be fans but what I’m interested in is seeing how all the other sports play out as well in the coming months. Baseball has yet to start and basketball season is paused as well. Football has announced their seasons will start on time but who knows if there will be fans or not.
