Washington Capitals fans know in these awards every vote counts.

One initiative the NHL has done to keep fans engaged during the novel coronavirus pandemic is by holding the NHL Fan Choice Awards. What does this mean for Washington Capitals fans? Well for one, they’ve been nominated in several different categories and their very own T.J. Oshie is in two of those categories.

Everyone across the NHL knows about the bromance of Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom but not everyone knows about the bromance of T.J. Oshie and Jakub Vrana, except for those of us in these parts. Oshie and Vrana were nominated for Best Bromance.

Oshie was also nominated for Best Pregame Ritual. We’ve all seen it where Oshie does a love tap with his stick to Tom Wilson while Willy goes behind him and does it right back.

It looked really weird the first time I’ve seen it. Now I look for it every warmup probably the way other fans have as well.

Now comes the question, how do you vote in the NHL Fan Choice Awards?

Voting is unlimited through June 1 at https://www.nhl.com/fans/nhl-fan-choice-awards/. You can also share your selections across your social media platforms with the official hashtag #NHLFanChoice.

Oshie isn’t the only Capital nominated by the way. Be sure to vote for Captain for Best Team Dog! Ovechkin is also featured in the GIF of the Year where he appears out of nowhere when the camera was focused on an infant fan.

Other categories that are Caps related are the Top Team Video for the most epic Mite of the Nite video interview you’ll ever see. Slapshot is nominated for Best Mascot while Capital One Arena is nominated for Best Building.

You can vote for all of those over here. And don’t forget to share your votes and spread the word so other Caps fans can submit their votes!
