Ovechkin and his family have had quite the week. The NHL canceled the rest of the regular season leaving Alex at 48 goals tied with David Pastrnak of the Boston Bruins. That means the two will share the Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy, Ovechkin’s ninth time winning the award which goes to the NHL’s top goal scorer.

According to Ovechkin’s wife, in an Instagram post of her own, Ilya is 55 centimeters big in length. The Capitals Twitter account also tweeted out their congratulations.

There is no set date yet on the NHL’s return to play so that will allow Alex to spend some time with the couple’s newest son as he just entered the world.

Ovechkin has been away from the game for a while already enjoying time with his family and Sergei has even become an internet sensation sometimes being seen dancing around while his dad is working out to prepare for hockey’s return.

Now Alex has two sons and it’ll be fun to watch them both grow. Maybe they’ll play on the same line with the team in 18 years?
