The Washington Capitals have evened the series.

In our latest simulation of NHL 20, the Washington Capitals won Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Tampa Bay Lightning to even up the series thanks to a 4-2 victory in Game 4 at Capital One Arena.

The first period was back and fourth but at 15:20 Carl Hagelin ripped in a shot from the middle that went top shelf, right corner for his third goal of the playoffs to put the good guys up 1-0.

1-0 was the score after the first 20 minutes with the Caps leading in shots 10-6.

The Caps kept the pressure up in the second period and T.J. Oshie delivered with his sixth goal of the postseason. It came on a shot from the right face-off circle and it was the second straight goal that was unassisted. It helped give the Caps a 2-0 cushion heading into the final period.

The Caps outshot the Lightning 10-9 in the middle stanza and 20-15 overall up to that point with Braden Holtby standing tall and stopping all 15 shots he faced. Something about facing the Lightning at home in the playoffs seems to fuel the Holtbeast.

Lars Eller made it 3-0 at 10:04 of the final period, ripping a shot from the middle off a pass from Richard Panik for his second goal of the spring. That goal would go on to be the game-winner and the difference of the game from the real Tiger King.

The Caps got the game’s first power play and only power play of the night but they thankfully cashed in. After Pat Maroon was called for a hooking minor at 11:23, the Caps attack went to work. Alex Ovechkin drove to the net and put one past Andrei Vasilevskiy. Oshie and John Carlson had the helpers.

The Lightning got two back out of complete desperation. Tyler Johnson and Anthony Cirelli cut the deficit in half but it wasn’t enough as the Caps hung on for a 4-2 win to even the series at two games apiece.

The Caps outshot the Lightning 29-26 with Holtby making 24 saves for the win. The Lightning had more shots in the third, 11-9, but like I said that was from desperation.
