Washington Capitals sign Daniel Carr

The Washington Capitals added a forward to their system.

On Sunday, the Washington Capitals signed forward Daniel Carr to a one year, two way contract. He will make $700,000 in the NHL and $415,000 in the AHL. Carr is currently playing for HC Lugano of the Swiss Hockey League (SHL) and will remain with the team until the beginning of Caps training camp for the 2020-21 season.

The 28 year old played in 11 games with the Nashville Predators last season and scored a goal. Additionally, he registered 50 points with 23 goals and 27 assists in 47 games with the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League (AHL). He tied for 10th in the AHL in points.

The six foot 191 pound forward led the Admirals in goas despite ranking seventh on the team with four power play goals and tied for the team lead with five game winning goals.

In 238 career AHL games with the Hamilton Bulldogs, the St. John’s IceCaps, the Laval Rocket, the Chicago Wolves, and Milwaukee, Carr has 211 points with 104 goals and 107 assists. Carr has appeared in at least six NHL games in each of the last five seasons between the Montreal Canadiens, the Vegas Golden Knights, and Nashville.

Carr had a career high 16 points with six goals and 10 assists in 38 games with the Canadiens in the 2017-18 season. In 111 career NhL games, Carr has 36 points with 16 goals and 20 assists.

Carr currently plays for HC Lugalo of the SHL. So far this season Carr has three points in four gams with two goals and an assist. He will play in the SHL until the commencement of Caps training camp. As to when that would be we hope it will be in December.

It is likely Carr will begin the 2020-21 season with the Hershey Bears, making an impact possibly in their top six. He could get called up to the show if there’s an injury.
