Washington Capitals: Retro jerseys are easily selling like hotcakes
Washington Capitals Reverse Retro jerseys are flying off the shelf.
Some Washington Capitals fans were lucky enough to get their hands on an Adidas Reverse Retro jersey that just dropped yesterday. As supply was lower than the demand, much lower, other fans had trouble buying the jerseys. In fact, I tried to look online to get one myself and they sold out.
The jerseys hit the web at 9:04 a.m. on the Monumental Sports and Entertainment online store as well as the NHL online shop. Pictures of the jersey were released 15 days prior and caused much fanfare and popularity as the screaming eagle made it’s triumphant return.
The screaming eagle was first introduced on the jersey in 1995 and was a part of the Caps legacy of 1998 when they reached the Stanley Cup Final for the first time. Alex Ovechkin got to wear the jersey his rookie and sophomore season before the jersey was retired in 2007.

Ovechkin’s jersey in particular, which is $224.99 for an authentic, sold out in just minutes. The rest of the stock sold out as fast as tickets go at Capital One Arena. According to Russian Machine Never Breaks, Fanatics reported that the Caps sold through their inventory “much quicker than any other team.”
There are still ways to get your hands on a reverse retro jersey however. The best way to secure one is to purchase one in person at the team store at Capital One Arena or MedStar Capitals Iceplex. Both locations have exclusive rights to sell the jerseys through Dec. 6.
On Sunday Dec. 6th other retailers will be able to sell the Reverse Retro collection. One of these stores is Dick’s Sporting Goods. They so far have blank Capitals jerseys as well as Ovechkin authentic jerseys available in all sizes online and they’ll likely have them locally as well.
As of noon on Dec. 2nd the team store at Capital One Arena announced on their Instagram story that they’re sold out of the Ovechkin reverse retro jerseys except for size 46. They are also sold out of T.J. Oshie replica jerseys of the medium size as well as just small and medium Tom Wilson replica jerseys left. If you’re looking for Henrik Lundqvist, those jerseys just arrived!
Dick’s may honestly be your best bet to purchase a reverse retro jersey as limited quantities are only available. Have you been lucky enough to buy one yet? If not and you’re still on the hunt for one, good luck!
