The Washington Capitals reverse retro jerseys are the best in the league.

The Washington Capitals reverse retro jerseys are at the top of the list at NHLShop.com and NHLShop.Ca for good reason. They brought back the screaming eagle and for the last two weeks the conversation has been stirring on social media on where to buy these beauties. The results from the list were based on sales from Dec. 1-6.

The Caps revealed the design on Nov. 16 for their adidas ADIZERO authentic jersey. On Dec. 1 when the jerseys dropped it was the second biggest sales day in NHL Shop e-commerce history preceded only by the Caps 2018 Stanley Cup championship. That Stanley Cup champions gear is now hard to find. It’ll be even harder to get a reverse retro jersey.

Monumental Sports and Entertainment Chief Marketing Officer Hunter Locmann said in a team press release:

More from Capitals News

“In every step of the process with the NHL and adidas, we took great strides to design a Reverse Retro jersey that our fans would be proud to wear. The Capitals Reverse Retro jersey is a tribute to the team’s significant history, and we appreciate the amazing support and excitement from our fans. We look forward to seeing the Capitals Reverse Retro jersey across the fanbase and on the ice during the 2020-21 season.”

The reverse retro line wasn’t just popular in the D.C. area as fans in 12 different countries outside of North America purchased them. Fans in the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italsy, Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. The reverse retro and special edition collections accounted for approximately 30% of the international sales at NHLShop.com.

You take the screaming eagle, reimagine it in the patriotic colors of the flag, and you get nostalgic thinking about the 1997-98 team that made it to the Stanley Cup Finals with players like Peter Bondra, Olie Kolzig, and Calle Johansson. It was originally a part of a Caps re-brand that switched to a lighter shade of blue. The new color scheme ensures we are rocking the red.

The team originally introduced this logo back in 1995 and retired the look in 2007 where they switched to the red and white jerseys you see today. Adidas worked closely with all 31 NHL teams to design a jersey that represents unique and historical moments in each club’s history with a modern twist.
