The Washington Capitals enter tonight’s game with the New Jersey Devils on a two game losing streak after poor performances to both New York teams. The Caps have had success against the Devils all season long, however, and they’ll look to continue that tonight.

The Caps are 6-0-0 against the Devils this season. Evgeny Kuznetsov leads the team with seven points (two goals, five assists) in four games against New Jersey this year while Alex Ovechkin leads the Caps with five goals in six games. Ilya Samsonov, Vitek Vanecek, and Craig Anderson have combined to stop 130 of the 156 shots they have faced against the Devils, a .907 save percentage.

In their six meetings against the Devils, the Caps have outscored them 25-14. That’s the second most goals per game (4.17) the Caps have against an opponent this season. The Caps six game winning streak against New Jersey is the longest win streak against the Devils since Dec. 6, 2014 to March 25, 2016 (7-0-0).

The Caps are the only team in the MassMutual East Division that hasn’t lost to the Devils this season. Their 3.74 five on five goals per game against the Devils is the highest rate a team has against New Jersey this season while their 64.29 goals for percentage at five on five is the highest percentage in the division.

The Caps are 49-47-7-7 on the road against the Devils. Ovechkin has 35 career goals and 70 points against the Devils while Nicklas Backstrom has 38 career assists. Backstrom and T.J. Oshie are each on four game point streaks.
