Washington Capitals at Sabres: Avoiding the trap game

The Washington Capitals dropped a 4-2 game to the Boston Bruins last night. Can the avoid the trap game that awaits them from the Buffalo Sabres?

The Caps have had success against them this season almost similar to their success against the New Jersey Devils. That doesn’t mean they should take this opponent lightly.

The Caps come into this game 5-0-1 in what will be their seventh meeting of the season with the Buffalo Sabres. Nicklas Backstrom leads the Caps with eight points with five goals and three assists against the Sabres while T.J. Oshie has recorded seven points with two goals and five assists.

Alex Ovechkin scored his 266th career power play goal to move to second place all time. He’s now nine PPGs shy of passing Dave Andreychuk for the most in NHL history. It was also the 20th goal of the season and he’s now the eighth player in NHL history with 16 consecutive 20 goal seasons. He now has 726 goals in his career.
